Diverse City offers a unique combination of lived experience and artistic practice to deliver training and consultancy that is creative, relevant and practical.

Training for Individuals

  • We train people to enter the performing arts and develop as leaders, supporting the talents of emerging artists who often face unexpected barriers.
  • We offer group training for individuals around their artistic practice, as well as how to work inclusively when working with others. These workshops are open to professionals, teachers, lecturers, artists and students.
  • The Diverse City Team includes qualified coaches, who can deliver one-to-one development through bespoke coaching programmes.

“The standard of the work we were shown far exceeded my expectations and I would be interested in seeing more integrated arts as a result.”

“The training felt honest, not just going through motions to tick boxes but to actually implement change.”

Training for organisations, managers and leaders

Diverse City specialise in improving diversity and inclusion. We train current leaders and organisations to be more aware of how they work, to become more diverse in their leadership and ways of working.

  • We can enable your organisation to become more diverse and inclusive, helping you understand how to best work with and support disabled people.
  • We create workshops about how to be diverse and creative thinkers, how to have a coaching culture and how to develop people in your organisations.
  • We can create one-off workshops bespoke to your organisation and we can deliver extended consultancy residencies to bring about bigger change.

“The training has given me new skills and understanding of how to create a fully inclusive workshop. I feel like I could support any group member with accessibility barriers to a certain exercise.”

Agents for Change

In 2016, we worked with Bristol Old Vic and Theatre Royal Plymouth, as one of the Arts Council England’s Agents for Change. We worked closely with both organisations to understand how diversity, accessibility and inclusion could be introduced across multiple levels of the business; from structure of the Board of Directors, to basic BSL understanding for Front of House staff.

“Their challenges to us were always thought provoking and considered, never judgemental. Their method of getting under the skin of an organisation has increased diversity awareness throughout TRP… everyone can contribute at all levels and in many, many ways, making diversity a priority in everything we do.”

“They have a unique ‘storytelling’ style of teaching and presenting workshops, which both excites and enthuses our staff teams, and means that they learn not only about diversity but also about themselves… achieved in a seamless and enjoyable way.”
