Arts Council England

Diverse City is proudly supported by The National Lottery, through Arts Council England’s Grants for the Arts programme (Moving Forward). We currently receive core investment from Arts Council England’s Elevate strategic fund and from April 2018 we are delighted to say that we will join Arts Council England’s National Portfolio of arts organisations.

Phil Gibby, (Area Director South West), Arts Council England, said,
“We are delighted to be welcoming Diverse City into the National Portfolio.
They are a
nationally significant champion of inclusive arts practice
and have an exceptional track record reflecting the voices of marginalised communities
.”

We are proud to invest in an organisation that has established accessible progression routes
into the arts and we are excited to see these recruitment practices develop
and create a real step change in diverse practice across the country.”

Claire Hodgson and Jamie Beddard won the Clore Duffield Foundation’s 50th Anniversary top Prize in 2014. This helped Diverse City’s to establish integrated community and youth performance activity for disabled people and for those from disadvantaged backgrounds in five cities across the UK.

Alongside Extraordinary Bodies’ national tour of Weighting, this community engagement brought disabled and non-disabled people to work & learn together, side-by-side:

We ran community circus workshops.
We created & rehearsed 4 community choirs.
We identified and developed 10 Unexpected Leaders.
